IN BRIEF: Christian Brooks finally snapped Cyril Raymond’s four-race GRC Lites winning streak with a victory at Lucas Oil Raceway on Sunday. Brooks’ second victory of the season came at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s home event in Indianapolis. Cyril Raymond and Travis PeCoy completed the podium.

HEAT RECAPS: Each of the top four drivers in points won a heat or semifinal this weekend. Raymond and Conner Martell split the first round, Olsbergs MSE X Forces teammates Raymond and Cole Keatts split round two, and Martell and Brooks took the two semifinals on offer to earn front row starting spots for the 10-lap main event.

MAIN EVENT RECAP: The first half of the first lap was too close to call, with Brooks leading off the start, but Martell and Keyes also challenging for the top spot. But Turn 6 changed the entire scope of the race, as Keyes got sideways in front of the entire field while in second, sending him and Martell into the tires—and more importantly for Brooks, giving him a sizable gap on second place.

The chase was on from there, as Raymond and PeCoy tried to chase down Brooks from second and third to no avail. Keyes, meanwhile, recovered to challenge PeCoy for the podium, but put James Rimmer into the wall on the final lap. The incident earned Keyes a disqualification from the final, costing him nearly 40 points.

QUOTES: Driver quotes from the podium at Red Bull GRC Indianapolis:

Christian Brooks, #44 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing: “We pushed it as hard as we could off the start, but we came out third in the first corner. I made two solid moves on the first lap, and that gave me a good gap. I just pushed as hard as I could every single lap, and I had the best lap time of the race too, so that boosted my confidence a lot. I know we have what it takes, and I know the Dreyer & Reinbold guys are stoked to have a win here in their hometown in Indianapolis.”

Cyril Raymond, #13 Olsbergs MSE X Forces: “It was a really good race for me. Big thanks to my team, my mechanic, my spotter, OMSE, you all did a great job. Thank you everybody. It’s a famous place to race here, and it’s a great opportunity to drive on this track. Thank you, Indianapolis. I’m really happy to be able to drive here!”

Travis PeCoy, #3 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing: “Of course it’s always nice to be up on the podium. It was a pretty hectic race. I started in the back from a couple of tough heats and the semis. I came through those first couple turns and they were pretty hectic. I had a clean line and came through, but I clipped a couple of cars. I just kind of bursed it all the way to the finish line. I’m stoked to come out here on the podium. Thank you to all my friends and family that came out here and my sponsors. Our guys got our car set up perfectly.”
